In the early 1990s, it became clear that there was a growing demand for retirement living options in the Vaal Triangle. To address this need, the Hoop Sonder Grense Trust was formed and initiated the development of Die Palms retirement village. The Name “Palms” is derived from the fact that Die Palms is Vereeniging’s main entrance from Palm Street. Due to the high demand, Die Palms began expanding to Vanderbijlpark in 2014, including specialised care facilities. In 2021, the development of Palms by the River and Die Palms Boutique began. Palms Vereeniging, Palms Vanderbijlpark, and Palms Boutique are all equipped with a generator to ensure uninterrupted power delivery. For added security, Palms Vanderbijlpark and Boutique are under 24/7 surveillance by state of the art camera systems monitored from a central control room.
